925 Sterling Silver Guide
What 925 sterling silver is, why it tarnishes and how to keep it bright.
What is 925 sterling silver?
Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver blended with 7.5% copper for strength. Every DM Gems silver piece is stamped “925”.
Why does silver tarnish?
Silver reacts with sulphur in the air, perfumes and skin creams, forming a dark layer. It is natural, harmless and easy to remove.
Keeping silver bright
- Wear it often — natural friction keeps it polished.
- Store each piece in an airtight pouch or zip bag.
- Polish with a soft silver cloth; avoid paper towels and toothpaste.
- Remove before swimming, bathing or exercising.
